Brainstorming
Let's talk about Brainstorming.
Brainstorming is the process of coming up with solutions to solve a particular problem. During your brainstorming session you will let you mind run free so your thoughts can flow. This is not the time to evaluate the ideas. Simply put it's an idea session. Follow these simple steps and to see how it works:
- If you plan on starting you business with other people, this is the perfect time to bring them all together to do a brainstorming session. If you don't, that's fine; one man/woman sessions work as well. Set aside about 20 - 30 minutes.
- At this point, you should already have an idea in mind. With that being said your "idea" will essentially be your problem. Focus your session around this idea.
- Make sure you have your trusty notebook handy. You should have one notebook that you only use for the purpose of starting your business.(When you DOWNLOAND the FREE BUSINESS PLANNING GUIDE there will be worksheets included to complete each step.)
- Now that you're all equipped to get started - Begin your brainstorming session by writing down any and everything that comes to mind about your idea. It doesn't matter whether it makes sense at the moment. The idea here is to capture every thought that you have.
- This is NOT the point in which you evaluate your ideas. You simply want to get any and everything that's on your mind on paper. You will refine your thoughts later.
- After your 20 - 30 minute session, you should walk away with enough information to begin refining and defining a solid concept for your business.
Keep in mind there's no perfect formula for brainstorming. You may have to modify things a bit to get it to work for you. Also, you may need to have several brainstorming sessions based on information you learned or came up with from a previous session. Let's move on to developing the concept.
